Our beautiful railings are here!

image

As promised, our new railings are stunning! What a great way to kick off the new year. You might remember from our last post that  the railings in our house are being replaced as part of a partnership with the Copper Development Association.  Many surfaces in our home are getting a facelift with Antimicrobial Copper. This material is not only healthier, it’s also stunning. We have already received new door handles and locks, two sinks, and beautiful tabletops.

As an added bonus, we have enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with one of our families. Michael, one of the gentlemen installing the railings, stayed in our house for 3 weeks 24 years ago when his son had open-heart surgery.

Thank you to Michael and his crew, and everyone at Copper Development Association. We love our new railings!

New Railings Are Stylish and Healthy

We clean our house from top to bottom so that our families can enjoy as clean an environment as possible while their children are hospitalized.  But there is always room for improvement, and Copper Development Association has been working with the Ronald McDonald House of Charleston to assess the bacterial levels of commonly touched surfaces in our home.  To help cut down these levels, they have installed Antimicrobial Copper door handles, new sinks as part of room renovations, and beautiful tabletops in our dining room.

Now, they are replacing our railings throughout the upstairs of our House!

The existing railings will be sunk to become coral reef, and they’ve enjoyed a sendoff from our families and local students, who have signed the rails in anticipation of their departure.  Our new railings will be beautiful as well as cleaner, and we can’t wait!  Stay tuned for updates!

Cooper the labradoodle visits Sky Dog’s Family Dog Park

Our therapy dog, Cooper, has been enjoying visits to Sky Dog’s Family Dog Park to stretch his legs and play.  The park is family-owned in Summerville, and features great amenities for people as well as dogs!

Sky Dog has obviously had his say in this park, as it feels like a doggy dream-come-true.  On-leash and off-leash areas, plus puppy zones provide space for all kinds of dogs in this four-acre park. Obstacle courses, training classes, and lots of friends make for a great time for your pooch.  Right now he can even nip lovingly at Santa on the way in!  When your dog is done having a ball, you can give her a bath before heading back to the car.

But people get to relax too!  The concession stand provides various hot and cold beverages, and folks gather around misters in the heat and firepits in the cold to watch football, eat oysters, and hang out while their dogs socialize.  Sky Dog’s Park is truly a community spot.  Take your dog and make two-legged and four-legged friends today!

And don’t forget to follow Sky Dog on Facebook!

Here’s your smile for the day!
