MUSC Students Cook Up Chili For Families
A group of students in the Master of Health Administration program at MUSC have been very busy helping out at the House! They are working hard to collect items for our upcoming No Show Ball Online Auction, and tonight they made dinner for our families. Perfect for warming both hearts and bellies, the chili was also delicious!
Our Prepare-A-Meal program helps provide a hot dinner for our guests when they arrive from a long day at the hospital. Businesses, school groups, churches and synagogues, civic organizations, and local families and friends come year-round to our House and prepare a menu of their choice. Families always tell us how much they enjoy the meals.
The No Show Ball is a great way to support the Ronald McDonald House. It’s like having a gala without having to buy a new dress, hire a sitter, or shine your shoes! Instead, we invite our friends to stay home and shop our online auction from the comfort of their own couch. Our next auction will take place April 1-22.

RMH Gets a Fresh Look!
Remember when we promised great news about 3 updates to our house? Our business center was one of them, and we are putting the finishing touches on the other two. But even more great things are happening at our house to improve our facility for families. We recently received donations of carpet and paint, and have given many spaces in our house a facelift!

Cooper Soaks Up The Lowcountry
The days have been so nice lately, and Cooper is always up for a visit to the Pitt Street Bridge and Shem Creek! House Manager Adriana took our happy labradoodle for great fun against the scenic backdrop of the Lowcountry.

Junior Board members do some teambuilding
You are looking at the leaders of tomorrow.
The RMHC Junior Board is made up of juniors and seniors from area high schools who want to gain a great experience and be part of the Ronald McDonald House. These students meet once a month to work on projects, hear from speakers on the topics of leadership and commitment, and learn how they can help families. This is also a scholarship program, sponsored by Charleston Area McDonald’s stores.
One exercise that is always a favorite is a teambuilding challenge where two students must work together to create a cup out of paper and tape, even though one is unable to see and the other is unable to use his or her hands. It is amazing to watch them work together, and the results are remarkable! Here’s some pictures of our 2011-2012 members in action. So impressive!

Your2 Hands: A wonderful new partnership
Meet Home2 Suites. This is an exciting new hotel from Hilton that promises to be “a contemporary, all-suite hotel for the savvy, sophisticated and economical traveler.” The rooms are beautiful, and the amenities are amazing!
Even better, each Home2 location chooses a local charity to become their Your2 Hands partner. This outreach program allows their employees to become involved in the community and give back in a way that is specific to that area.
The Charleston Home2 had their ribbon cutting yesterday, and we are thrilled to announce they have chosen the Charleston Ronald McDonald House as their Your2 Hands charity. Our Executive Director, Barbara Bond, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Home2 Suites kicked off the Your2 Hands program by making a $1,000.00 donation!

Check out our new computer room!
Ever find yourself without access to the internet for days at a time? Some of our families do. Many of them spend their time at RMHC without access to this lifeline we all use every day.
As part of many new changes that are happening at our house, our former conference room has been transformed into a computer room for our families. Here, our guests will be able to stay in contact with everyone at home, post photos and stories to social websites, and check online services. We hope that it will help them to feel even more comfortable in our Home Away From Home.
